Okay, so it’s been since January!! I really have not meant to be so lax at posting – I’ve just been busy with things.
Mom completed her radiation and first round of chemo. She then “healed” some and, on April 19, had a colon resection – with 12″ being removed. She currently has an ileostomy in place (a protion of her small intestine is exposed through her stomach and dumps into a bag) and will have that until the end of her second round of chemo.
The good news is, the rectal cancer was eliminated at the original site. The bad news is, she has a metastisised (sic) tumor on her liver. This isn’t liver cancer – it’s rectal cancer that has attached itself to mom’s liver. This, apparently, is not uncommon and her oncologist is hoping the 6 months of chemo they are planning to begin will eliminate the tumor.
We look forward with great hope that mom’s situation will be “best case scenario”, with all cancer cells being killed off and the tumors on my liver being gone!
Coveting your prayers,
