Okay, my FIRST mistake was saying “Yes” to Cat and her five kittens staying with us until the kitties are weaned. No, maybe my first mistake was letting Devon (Cat’s “co-owner”) move back in! I’m not sure which mistake came first, just suffice it to say my 18-year-old is back – and now Cat and her kittens are here too. They are cute litter things. Only one is taken – the others have all been “backed out” on. So, we are weaning the little gals (and 1 guy) and making them ready to go bye-bye.
We won’t be keeping any of the little darlings. We already have our precious Lily in the house – and she has let it be known in no uncertain terms that she will not be sharing her humans with another cat!! So Cat will go back to son Corey (who is points unknown in Lincoln!) and any kitten not taken will go the the Dodge County Humane Society for placement. Oh, I know it sounds heartless – but the Humane Society is where all the “cool kitties” are found. That’s where we found Lily – and she is one awesome cat!
Anyway, we’ve been working on weaning these babies – so far so good. Next week we’ll take their mom away for an hour and see how they all do. Then two, then three….. any of you who have weaned know the drill. In the meantime, we are working on not becoming so attached that it becomes impossible to drop them off in Fremont. We have named a few of them though – the grey “twins” are Smoke and Mirrors, the black one is Magic and the tortoise one is Milkdud. The black and white one is spoken for, so we didn’t name her. They all have the cutest personalities – they will definitely all be great pets for someone.
If you know anyone interested in a kitten, let me know. They’ll be ready to go in two more weeks.
Hoping your week is “purrrrr-fect”!
